The original John Lysaght, a Bristol Steel Mill owner, began exporting corrugated sheeting to Australia in 1867. The early pioneers used the sheeting to build homes and shelters. In fact the sheeting was so popular and functional, that production of the first corrugated sheet took place at Lysaght in Newcastle in 1921.

NS BlueScope Lysaght Sabah Sdn Bhd first started operations in Sabah back in 1975, back then it was known as John Lysaght (Sabah) Sdn Bhd. Since its early establishment in Sabah, the company offers a full wide range of superior products ranging from roof, wall, structure to flooring system, catering to wide range of applications in the building and construction industry.

NS BlueScope Lysaght Sabah leads the market in providing quality and superior steel building systems and products. Since the early 1970s, the company is well known for its long length LYSAGHT SPANDEK® and it was the first to launch concealed fixing roof in Sabah – LYSAGHT KLIP-LOK HI-TEN®. In 1986, NS BlueScope Lysaght Sabah was the first to launch galvanised high tensile purlins using ZINC-HI-TEN® Z275 and in 2001, the Company introduced purlins that are not only stronger than before but much more superior when it comes to corrosion resistance - GALVASPAN® Steel (G450-Z350). In 1996, with its unsurpassed LYSAGHT SUPRAFRAME®, NS BlueScope Lysaght Sabah was the pioneering company that started steel house framing in Sabah.

In 1998, NS BlueScope Lysaght Sabah became the first and still remain as the only manufacturer of concealed fixing steel tile – LYSAGHT CUSTOM BLUE ORB®. In addition to that, the company is the first to introduce steel roof trusses solutions, with its LYSAGHT SUPERTRUSS™, the company revolutionized and re-defined roof truss applications in Sabah. In 2001, the company also became the first roll-former to introduce pre-engineered building solutions. With its LYSAGHT PEB™ Lite System, it instils and educates the market the concept of ‘building that is light and strong’. It is an era when the company becomes a solution-based provider instead of being the traditional commodity manufacturer.
