Responsibilities:
- Plan and carry out effective communications and advocacy activities for the Sabah Terrestrial Conservation Programme, focusing efforts on the strategies of spatial planning, protected areas, habitat restoration, increased enforcement, and effective river basin management.
- Ensure consistency of messaging on the Sabah Terrestrial Conservation Programme to stakeholders and general public through appropriate media channels on a timely basis.
- Support the programme leader in communications and advocacy efforts on the programme with various government agencies in Sabah and to take forward WWF’s conservation initiatives in Sabah.
- Create and develop strategic ways to communicate and raise the profile of the WWF brand and our conservation work, and deliver impactful stories to key stakeholders.
- Develop strategic communications materials on the programme’s conservation targets and strategies to facilitate additional fundraising for the programme and for other conservation work of WWF-Malaysia.
- Provide supervision to the communications officer in implementing the programme objectives.
- Participate wholeheartedly in the general activities of WWF-Malaysia, particularly events and activities that require the full support and participation of all staff members, whether or not the focus of any particular event or activity has any bearing on the job description and assigned project objectives and activities
Requirements:
- Degree in communications, media or related discipline. Special training and experience in conservation would be an advantage.
- At least five (5) years of experience in the area of environmental or conservation communications, with the last 3 years in a senior position.
- Proven success record in advocacy and engagement communications
