Responsibilities:
- Establish the milestones and project objectives, and ensure they are met according to expectations in the initial planning and after the review process.
- Ensure work plans are adhered to and where there is a concern or problem, to raise this with the Programme Manager and/or members of the programme at the appropriate forums.
- Manage the project budget(s) and ensure that budgets for all project components are spent within the individually allocated amounts.
- Keep project documents up to date, coordinate inputs and getting proposals / reports written and timely submitted.
- Develop quarterly work plans for all project staff.
- Ensure constant communication with the Programme Manager on the challenges on the ground and within the organization.
- Facilitate meetings/discussions/dialogues between and among project members so as to ensure matters of troubleshooting and milestones are tackled and reviewed respectively.
- Supervise the field team, motivate, develop, and evaluate staff performance.
- Ensure the team maintain a good working relationship amongst WWF-Malaysia staff and external partners (e.g. government agencies, non-government agencies, business and industries, communities and media).
- Responsible for the running and functioning of the field office.
- Be the focal person for the project(s).
- Work closely with the Programme Communications Officer for dissemination of conservation messages.
Requirements:
- Possess a post-graduate degree, preferably with a minimum of five (5) years' working experience in the area of Marine Conservation Programme in a capacity of leader or junior manager.
- Excellent written and oral skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and to converse in the local dialect(s) is an asset.
- Must possess a valid driving license and has experience driving 4-wheel drive vehicles.
- Being a certified diver (basic) may be required depending on project.
- Must be computer literate and have the ability to use appropriate technology for presentation to partners, stakeholders and potential donors.
- Has good organising and management skills.
- Good understanding of current issues especially having knowledge on environmental and conservation issues.
